안녕 여름빛 (1968)

さらば夏の光

가와무라 교수는 출장을 겸해 유럽을 여행하고 있다. 리스본의 거리에서 가와무라는 공예품 수입상인 토바 나오코와 우연히 만난다. 함께 길을 걷던 가와무라에게 나오코는 원폭으로 모든 가족을 잃었다는 뜻밖의 이야기를 꺼낸다. 원폭은 나오코에게서 가족, 고향 그리고 여름을 모두 앗아갔다. 둘은 그렇게 헤어졌으나, 가와무라는 파리에서 미국인 남편과 함께 있는 나오코를 우연히 보게 된다. 운명에 이끌리듯 가와무라와 나오코는 점점 더 가까워진다.

Farewell to the Summer Light is a 1968 Japanese New Wave romantic drama film co-written and directed by Yoshishige Yoshida. Its story follows two Japanese people on a tour of Europe who become romantically entangled while dealing with mutual trauma over the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. The film stars Mariko Okada and Tadashi Yokouchi in the lead roles, in addition to Paul Beauvais and Hélène Soubielle. Its score was composed by Toshi Ichiyanagi. Farewell to the Summer Light was theatrically released by Art Theatre Guild on 31 December 1968, in Japan.

Production

The film was shot on location throughout Europe in collaboration with Japan Airlines.
