The film's title is based on a serial that was supposed to be directed by Vikram with Ameer working as the assistant director. It also marks the first film for Trisha as lead actress. Shooting took place in India and abroad. Moreover, a huge set worth ₹30 lakh (equivalent to ₹1.2 crore or US$130,000 in 2026) was erected by art director Rajeevan at Pondicherry for a song.
