In visiting his ex-wife’s apartment a man learns that she plans to remarry a scientist named Valentin Shlyakhov. In his past, the man wrote a scathing letter about Shlyakhov which greatly impacted his career. Fearing that this information will come to light when his ex-wife marries Shlyakhov, the man insists that the wedding be called off. What follows is an intimate portrayal of the relationship between a man and a woman (who are never named), whose history as husband and wife plays out during a heated conversation.

Fără martori este un film sovietic din anul 1983, regizat de Nikita Mihalkov după un scenariu scris de Nikita Mihalkov, Sofia Prokofieva și Ramiz Fataliev. Sursa de inspirație a scenariului a constituit-o piesa de teatru „Conversație fără martori” a Sofiei Prokofieva. Rolurile principale sunt interpretate de actorii Irina Kupcenko, Mihail Ulianov și Eduard Artemiev. El a obținut Premiul FIPRESCI la Festivalul Internațional de Film de la Moscova din 1983.

Producție

Muzica filmului a fost interpretată de Orchestra Simfonică de Stat a Cinematografiei, dirijată de Emin Haciaturian.
