毎日かあさん (2011)

Rieko Saibara is a cartoonist and mother of a 6-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl. When she has a difficult time, she throws away her problems with laughter. Her husband Kamoshitda used to be a war camera man, but now he's addicted to alcohol. He struggles to overcome his problem, but keeps failing. Finally, they get divorced. After Kamoshida loses his family, he realizes how precious they are. He focuses on getting away from alcohol, but another disease comes to him. Even though Saibara knows that he can not make it for long, she accepts him back to her family again. Since then a happy, but short, time exists for the family of four.

Mainichi Kaasan is a Japanese comedy manga series written and illustrated by Rieko Saibara, based on her experiences as a housewife and mother. It was serialized on a weekly basis in the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper's morning edition from October 2002 to 26 June 2017. The manga was later collected into 14 tankōbon volumes. It won several awards, including the Excellence Award at the 8th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2004, the Short Story Award at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes in 2005, and the President of the House of Councilors Award at the 40th Japan Cartoonist Awards in 2011.
