Bangs (1996)

A young Chinese-Canadian girl’s obsession with hiding her big forehead collides with old-world superstition in Carolynne Hew’s whimsical debut comedy. Jumping back and forth between her hair gel–coated bathroom and the soothsayer’s living room, the film strikes a woozy balance between vanity, doubt, and self-acceptance.
