В 1786 году в диких тропических джунглях сошлись в решающей битве армии могущественных королей востока. Когда смолкли крики раненых, юная красавица отправилась искать на залитом кровью поле боя своего погибшего возлюбленного, и сама пала жертвой безжалостных бандитов-мародёров. В то суровое время родилась легенда, которая гласит, что душа несчастной вселилась в свирепого тигра, который вместе с могучим боевым слоном бродит по лесу, убивая всех, кто встречается им на пути… Спустя 100 лет алчные и безжалостные охотники за слоновой костью и шкурами редких зверей отправляются в священные запретные леса. Они намерены убить неуловимую тигрицу, хотя испуганные крестьяне до сих пор слышат в этих краях трубный глас разъяренного слона-гиганта и зловещий рев загадочного хищника-тигра…

Trivia

The King River is a real location. Locally known as "Lam Nam Kasat" (ลำน้ำกษัตริย์), it is also translated as "King River". There is another river that is a pair, namely "Lam Nam Suriya" (ลำน้ำสุริยะ, "Solar River"). Both of them do not appear on any map at all. Both watercourses flow upstream to a confluence with the Salween River on the Myanmar side. Currently, they originated in Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary, Kanchanaburi Province.

The King River Battle in the story is part of the Nine Armies War (1785–86) that took place during King Rama I's reign in the early Rattanakosin period. It is regarded as the last great war between Siam (Thailand) and Burma (Myanmar).

The demon tigress that appears in the film. In Thai, it is called "Suea Saming" (เสือสมิง), similar to a werecat or a skin-walker in Western beliefs. Suea Saming is the belief of a race of forest dwelling people, such as Karen. The person who could turn into a tiger (or tigress) was because of the power of black magic. Suea Saming is believed to be the spirit of the jungle and the mineral lick protector.

Sab Suae Thi Lam Nam Kasat, the film's Thai title, literally translates as "The Stench of Tiger at King River" or "The Curse of Tiger at King River". It can also be translated as "Siam weed at King River".
