어린 시절, 내성적인 스마일은 한 무리의 아이들에게 괴롭힘을 당하고 있었는데 "페코"가 나타나 아이들을 모두 쫓낸다. 그 후 페코는 스마일에게 탁구를 가르칩니다. 그때부터 이 극과 극인 두 아이 사이에는 평생의 절친 관계가 시작된다.
