Happy End (2003)

Val is 23 years old and full of dreams. She travels to New York to become an actress. She is lonely in a strange country, in a strange city, with little money and no friends. In her path, she meets weird people who they, also, seek their dreams but everyday life gets in the way. Tired and hungry she sits on the corner of a building. Across the street a writer whose fantasy has dry out. In an instant she becomes his muse... At the Oscar's night she will be the one with the Golden Globe in her hands.

Happy End, also known as Nowhere to Go but Up, is a 2003 romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Amos Kollek. It stars Audrey Tautou and Justin Theroux, with Laila Robins, Catherine Curtin, Frank Pellegrino, Jenna Lamia, Juan Carlos Hernández and Jennifer Tilly in supporting roles, and Jim Parsons in his film debut. An international co-production of France, the United States and Germany, the film follows a young French woman who has come to New York City to try her luck as an actress, crossing paths with a screenwriter suffering from writer's block along the way.
