Private Collection (1973)

A wealthy art collector and his wife have their property broken into in this strange, awkward comedy. Little does the thief realize, but the most prized artwork in the collection is protected by a small guillotine. He loses his hand and is then blackmailed into robbing an art dealer, who earlier in the film refused to sell a statue of an eagle.

Private Collection is a 1972 Australian black comedy film that marked the feature debuts of Pamela Stephenson and Michael Caton.

Production

The film was shot on 16mm in Sydney in January 1972. It was the first film with investment from the Australian Film Development Corporation to be publicly shown.

It premiered at the Sydney Film Festival in June of that year.
