Nel 2020, Elias van Dorne, amministratore delegato della più grande società di robotica al mondo, presenta Kronos, la sua più potente invenzione ovvero un super computer progettato per porre fine a tutte le guerre. Quando Kronos entra in funzione, gli appare chiaro come la più grande minaccia per la pace sia l'umanità stessa. Lancia allora un attacco robotico per liberare il pianeta dall'uomo. 97 anni dopo, un piccolo gruppo di esseri umani è sopravvissuto a Kronos ma è sempre in fuga dai robot. In tale contesto, gli adolescenti Andrew e Calia formano un'improbabile alleanza per raggiungere un nuovo mondo, dove si dice che l'umanità viva senza essere perseguitata dalle macchine. Ma tale mondo esiste realmente? Riusciranno a vivere abbastanza a lungo per scoprirlo?

Singularity is a Swiss/American science fiction film. It was written and directed by Robert Kouba, and its first shoot, in 2013, starred Julian Schaffner, Jeannine Wacker and Carmen Argenziano. The film was first released in 2017, after further scenes with John Cusack were added.

Production

Singularity began as a low-budget sci-fi film called Aurora, which was shot in 2013 in the Czech Republic and Switzerland. John Cusack was not involved in the original shoot. Years later, scenes with Cusack interacting only with Argenziano were shot and inserted into the new production, and extensive CGI effects were used to tie the new material to the original film.
