Mach 2 (2001)

Mit Beweisen, dass US-Vizepräsident Pike illegale Waffengeschäfte mit beiden Kriegsparteien des Balkankonflikts führt, begibt sich Präsidentschafts-Kandidat Stuart Davis zusammen mit Air Force Captain Jack Tyree (Brian Bosworth) auf eine Mission nach Europa. Seine Informationen könnten zum Ende des Bürgerkrieges beitragen. Doch Vizepräsident Pike setzt alles daran, dies zu verhindern und läßt die Concorde von Terroristen kapern. Dabei kommen beide Piloten ums Leben und die Maschine rast mit zweifacher Schallgeschwindigkeit auf Europa zu, an Bord eine nukleare Waffe der Terroristen. Auf Befehl des Weißen Hauses soll die US Navy die Concorde zerstören. Nun ist es Zeit für Captain Jack Tyree zu handeln ...

Production trivia

The majority of the principal photography took place in the summer of 1991. The scenes of the Concorde were used from the 1979 film The Concorde ... Airport '79. The interior of the Concorde seen in the film is vastly larger than the real aircraft, as a Boeing 747 set was used due to budgetary constraints.

All the scenes of the Washington Dulles and Paris Orly airports were filmed at small aerodromes, noting the small size of their control towers.
