Tarzan's Three Challenges

Tarzan se rend à l'Extrême-Orient à la demande d'un chef mourant pour escorter son remplaçant, un jeune garçon nommé Kashi, dans la capitale pour son investiture. L'homme mourant a des raisons de craindre pour la sécurité de Kashi. Son frère Khan croit qu'il est son fils qui doit reposer sur le trône et est prêt à faire tout ce qu'il faut pour y parvenir. Tarzan fait face à de nombreux défis comme il doit d'abord convaincre les moines qui ont été éduquent Kashi qu'il est en fait Tarzan. Avec cela hors du chemin, Tarzan et Kashi sont attaqués sur le chemin de la capitale par Khan et ses hommes. Quand ils font enfin à la capitale, Khan invoque le droit d'un quatrième et dernier test pour confirmer le garçon comme l'héritier légitime: un combat à mort avec son champion, Tarzan. Un seul survivra.

Tarzan's Three Challenges is a 1963 British-American adventure film filmed in Metrocolor. The twenty-fifth film of the Tarzan film series that began with 1932's Tarzan the Ape Man, it is a follow-up to 1962's Tarzan Goes to India. The film was Jock Mahoney's second and final turn as the apeman, was produced by Sy Weintraub, written by Robert Day and Berne Giler, and directed by Robert Day. The film was released in June 1963, and was followed by Tarzan and the Valley of Gold in July 1966.

Production notes

The film was filmed near Bangkok, Thailand and in the jungle near the Chiang Mai Province.

Midway through the film, Mahoney contracted dysentery, dengue fever and finally pneumonia. His weight plummeted from 220 pounds (100 kg) to 175 pounds (79 kg). Some critics, noting how thin and weary he appeared in some action scenes, said it undermined the film’s credibility. English Stuntman Ray Austin made the 120 ft (37 m) dive for Mahoney at Begor Bridge.
