Limite
바다 한가운데서 표류하고 있는 어느 조그만 보트에 두 여자와 한 남자가 타고 있다. 그들은 바로 전의 일을 회상한다. 그중 한 여자는 교도소장의 도움으로 탈출한 죄수다. 탈출은 했지만 뉴타운에서 재봉사로서의 단순한 삶은 더 이상 살고 싶지 않을 만큼 불행만 기다리고 있을 뿐이다. 다른 한 여자는 피아니스트와 결혼했다. 그는 술주정뱅이로 지방의 작은 극장에서 ‘찰리 채플린’의 보조를 하며 생계를 이어가고 있다. 그리고 남자는 한 여자와 불륜관계에 있는 홀아비다. 어느날 부인의 무덤에 가는 길에 그녀의 남편과 마주쳤다. 그녀의 남편은 그녀가 나병에 걸렸다고 말했다. 어쩔 수 없이 남자는 여자를 보낼 수 밖에 없었다. 이렇게 이들 셋은 더 이상 살고자 하는 욕망이나 힘은 남아 있지 않고 삶의 한계에 와 있는데...

Limite is a 1931 Brazilian silent experimental psychological drama film directed, written, and produced by Mário Peixoto. The film was inspired by a photograph by André Kertész and was shot in 1930, with its first screening taking place in 1931. It is often considered one of the earliest experimental feature films.
Production
Peixoto wanted to play the male lead himself, and pitched the film to Brazilian directors Humberto Mauro and Adhemar Gonzaga, both of whom said that Peixoto's scenario was too personal to be directed by anyone else. Peixoto decided to proceed and paid for the production using family funds. He filmed in 1930 on the coast of Mangaratiba, a village about 50 miles from Rio de Janeiro, where his cousin owned a farm.
One scene takes place at a screening of The Adventurer by Charlie Chaplin, suggesting another important influence on Peixoto's film.
Mário Peixoto said that Limite cost 60,000 reis.
