Fruits Basket: Prelude è un film d'animazione giapponese del 2022 diretto da Yoshihide Ibata.

Produzione

Dopo la conclusione della seconda serie animata, il 28 giugno 2021 lo staff di produzione ha annunciato l'uscita di un nuovo anime per il 2022, che avrebbe adattato le vicende del manga su Kyoko e Katsuya non inserite nella serie. L'anime fu annunciato con il titolo provvisorio Kyо̄ko to Katsuya no monogatari (今日子と勝也の物語? lett. "La storia di Kyoko e Katsuya") e senza specificarne il formato.

Il film è stato prodotto dalla TMS Entertainment, lo stesso studio d'animazione che ha realizzato la seconda serie animata. La trama include anche un riassunto degli ultimi eventi della serie e alcune scene inedite scritte appositamente dall'autrice del manga.

Il tema portante del film, Niji to kaito (虹とカイト? lett. "L'arcobaleno e l'aquilone") è stato interpretato da Trio Ōhashi.
