Agata, a member of a rowing club, is preparing to compete in its anniversary regatta as part of the club's elite eight. Her life becomes complicated when she falls for Robert, whose infidelity soon leaves her heartbroken. As tensions at the club grow and she is dropped from the team, Agata finds unexpected companionship with Staszek, a cheerful young shipyard worker.
