아버지의 유서를 갖고 교토의 취각사를 찾은 미조구치는 절의 아름다움에 푹 빠져 그곳에 머무르게 된다. 하지만, 속세에 물든 주지스님과 절을 찾는 관광객과 미군, 기생 등의 모습에 그는 걷잡을 수 없는 분노에 빠지게 된다.

Conflagration is a 1958 Japanese drama film directed by Kon Ichikawa. It is based on the Yukio Mishima novel The Temple of the Golden Pavilion. Ichikawa named Conflagration as the favourite among his own films.
