Apolline (1959)
“Apolline” is an adaptation of a short story by Franz Hellens from the collection Les saisons de Pontoise, published in 1956 by Albin Michel. The story is set in the early 20th century against the backdrop of old Ghent and its canals. It is a curious romance, set in a sort of magical reality unique to the writer’s world, which Deroisy captures with precision.
